Why is it?
That I can know someone so long
Know their fears
Likes
Dislikes
And them the same for me
Then something happens
And all I can say is
“You don’t know me.”

I really thought you did
I thought you understood
But obviously you don’t
Otherwise
You wouldn’t have said the things
You did
Now I can only
Look you in the eye and say
“You don’t know me.”

Were all those chats pointless?
Did you never pay attention?
What picture do you have of me?
In your mind?
Who do you see?
I can’t be sure now
Cause all I can do
Is say to you
“You don’t know me.”

I don’t know what happened
To your perception
How does saying one thing
Lead to that?
I’m not sure
But it feels weird
To look at you
And say
“You don’t know me.”

I can’t tell what you think of me!
I can’t tell if you know!
I can’t tell if you understand!
What’s scary is…
