Happiness is a Horse

My head is a rainstorm
Pounding the ground
Criss-cross patterns on a window
Made of crystalline tears
My tears

The world is too complicated
I don’t want to live here
Animals die, hearts are broken
Yesterday brings awful memories
And tomorrow brings only more

Then a nicker slowly is uttered
Echoing in my heart
Heavy head over my shoulder
Hopeful eyes
My love, my horse

My heart swells up inside me
Feeling warm and cool
A swift tingle envelops me
Spreading hope and joy
And everything that’s good

Songs and stars
Great blue skies
Freedom and flying
Sprouting your wings
The moon and the sun

This is what it feels like
Being trapped in a cage
All dark and damp
And on the day the sun shines
You are set free
