 Contest Possibilities

Hey everybody! I've decided that we really need to craft the contests. So, in this thread I'm going to throw out some ideas at you and hopefully get ideas thrown at me, so...

My ideas for contests:

Prompt like thing-This would kind of be like the prompt, except for a contest, and more vague. I would give you guys like, the first sentence, or a word, or a theme, or a character you have to use, and you write a short story or essay based on that. It would be judged on...well, just how good a story it is. I'm thinking I'd put up a poll and people could vote, but that would only work if not everybody participated.

Given charcter-I would make up a character, post a little thing about them, then you write a story with this character as a main character. This would be judged on how correct you did the character(Yes, this will be hard. You have to keep the character to how I write them, but I'll leave enough room for you to take some liberties), and again, how good the story is.

Describe and Poetical-I would give an object and you have to describe it in an esay form. However, it's also going to be judged on how poetical it is. So you can't say some thing like, "It is green and shiny." No. But you can't actually make it a poem. Tricky, isn't it?

That's all the ideas I have for now. Please reply if you have more ideas or ideas for names for these things. Also reply if you have something to add to one of these ideas or something you think should be taken out.

Also, we should have prizes. Possibly things like karma boosts or having your post count increased to the next level. Unfotunately, I'm not very good at graphics, but if someone would like to make graphics or prizes like that, please PM me.

Another thing I could so, and this wouldn't be just for prizes, it to make an actual website for this site, and this just be the forum. That way, for a prize, you could have your work posted on the main page. For more info on a website, see the other thread I'm making that's an announcement(I'm maknig this thread before that so I'm not sure what it'll be called yet.)

I think we should do something like the Academy Awards, only it would be for this site. For instance, the judge could judge summitted stories in the following categories:

Best Character
Best Setting
Best Plot
Best Short Story
Best Fanfiction
Best Science Fiction
Best Drama
Most Humorous
Best Writer

Etc...

Oh, and I am more than willing to do graphics.

Good idea! Would it be a thing where we look over ALL the stories in that year, or where people submitted stories?

Or maybe we could hold "Guild Awards" every four months or so. So it could be "The Winder Guild Awards" "The Spring Guild Awards" etc, that way people have enough time to write and submit stories, but they don't forget about the contest. I think we should have people enter their stories, that way, if the judge misses one, then their wouldn't be any hard feelings.

I'm willing to come up with a list of categories, if you would like. Would you like me to do that, or would you rather do that yourself? I made a list too.

Well, when it comes to do the competition, we could make a standard list, then everyone could add what they think would be good.

I like those. The only one I don't think would work would be best Series. I don't think people will have enough time to write a whole series.

What might be cool was if everyone could submit one story to an all-around contest, anually, and awards would be given for each of those categories.

*Looks back over old posts and wonders if "Winder" was written in accent*

(It was most likely a spelling error, but it is rather amusing, since that how SoCalians are known to talk, when we don't feel like articulating, which is most of the time, in my experience.)
